The woods do not end with the acceptance letter.
Getting into college is a milestone, not a finish line. Some of the hardest navigating comes after the decision is made: the first semester that doesn't go as planned, the gap year without a map, the quiet house after the car pulls away.
For 38 years I worked with students and families not just as a teacher and administrator, but through the transitions in between - the ones that don't come with a deadline or an application portal. That work continues here.
Coaching at Clearing is built on the same belief as everything else I do: growth happens where a person feels challenged, supported, and known. My graduate training in marital and family therapy informs how I listen and what I notice, though coaching is not therapy - it is structured, practical guidance from someone who has walked this road with hundreds of families.
For college students. The transition to college is rarely as smooth as the brochures suggest. I work with students who are struggling to find their footing - academically, socially, or in choosing a direction. Together we sort out what is actually wrong, what is within their control, and what to do next. Sometimes that means new habits and structures. Sometimes it means a hard conversation about transferring. Either way, the goal is a student who feels at home in their own education again.
For gap years and the year after. A year off is only as good as its shape. I help students design gap years and post-graduation years with real intention — work, travel, service, or study that builds toward something rather than away from it. We set the plan, then meet regularly to keep it honest.
For parents. Launching a child is its own transition, and nobody hands you a syllabus. I work with parents navigating the years when their role is changing — how to stay connected without hovering, how to support a struggling student from a distance, how to let the relationship grow up alongside the child. As a parent of three, I know this terrain from the inside.
Coaching is offered in monthly arrangements or session bundles, in person in Miami or by video anywhere.
