The college planning process often feels rushed and overwhelming. Thoughtful decisions require time, perspective, and steady judgment.
That perspective comes from experience.
I am a longtime educator with a deep commitment to helping students find college paths that genuinely fit them. Over more than three decades in education, I have worked as a teacher, coach, school administrator, counselor, and parent. Each role has shaped how I approach college counseling, with an emphasis on perspective, empathy, and sound judgment rather than pressure or prestige.
My background includes 38 years of teaching, a bachelor’s degree in English, and a graduate degree in marital and family therapy. I spent over 30 years coaching high school and club athletics and more than 25 years in school administration, working closely with students and families during some of the most formative transitions of their lives. I am also the parent of three children, which has further grounded my understanding of the emotional realities families face during this process.
The heart of my work lies in helping students navigate the college admissions process with clarity and confidence. At Clearing, my goal is simple: to help students identify schools where they will grow academically, personally, and socially. For some students, that may mean highly selective institutions. For others, it may mean a small liberal arts college, a state university, or a program they had not initially considered.
I believe in fit over prestige. I believe the best school is one where a student feels challenged, supported, and known. I work alongside families through every stage of the process, from building a strong academic and extracurricular foundation to crafting authentic applications, understanding financial aid, and making final decisions with confidence.
This work reflects both my professional experience and my values. I would be glad to be a thoughtful guide during this important transition.
